Born and raised in rural northwest Iowa, Emily Rasmussen moved to Sonoma County in 2011 with an English degree and a drive to learn everything there was to learn about the wine industry. She began her career working in wine ecommerce and life has never been the same.
After passing the Wine & Spirits Education Trust Level III Exam and harvesting grapes in New Zealand in 2013, Emily returned to Sonoma and worked as Brand & Communications Manager at Ram’s Gate Winery before launching Emily Rasmussen Communications in 2016, providing consulting services in brand strategy, project management, marketing and communications for wineries throughout Northern California.
She also works as Executive Director of Historic Vineyard Society, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the preservation of California’s historic vineyards.
Emily lives in Sonoma with her husband Cody Rasmussen, their sons Caleb and Drew, and their golden retrievers Maya and Murphy.
They launched Desire Lines Wine Co. in 2018, making small-lot wines from captivating vineyards across California.
